The brief summer is over by September, when the first hints of winter begin to appear in the colder air arriving from the northwest. At Ulaanbaatar, the Mongolian capital, the average high temperature for September drops 6°C (10°F) from August to produce very pleasant weather. The capital enjoys temperatures around 14°C (58°F) for a brief time before the real temperature drop begins in October.
